Common Defects in the Injection Molding of Sanitary Ceramics

Because of its large volume, complex structure and internal water pipes, sanitary ceramics can only be manufactured by using the injection molding process. For many years, some people tried to use other materials to replace ceramic raw materials to make some of the sanitary wares, but they failed.

As one of the most important links in the production process of sanitary ceramics, the grouting molding process will affect the quality of the dry blank after the mold is dried, and then affect the quality of the fired products. Therefore, sanitary ceramics factories attach great importance to various problems in the grouting process.

Various defects in grouting forming will be introduced below.

1. Billet dirtiness

The characteristics of the green body dirty defect: during the injection molding process, due to careless work, the operator caused various spots on the green body of sanitary ceramics after wiping, closing, grouting, and trimming the green body.

2. Brown eye

Characteristics of brown eye defect: unglazed pores with a diameter of less than 1.5mm on the body under the glaze layer appear as dense pinhole like pores on the body surface and the finished product surface.

3. Mud particle

Characteristics of mud particle defect: particles stuck to sanitary ceramics after firing in the kiln.

4. Billet concavity and convexity

Characteristics of concave convex defect of billet: deformation of products due to unqualified operation, as well as deformation of billet caused by objective conditions such as model, sample plate, various plate holders and blank pads.

5. Patching crack

The characteristics of the crack defect of the water tank tiling: the water tank tiling cracks due to the improper adhesion of the water ring and the large tire during the pasting process.

6. Air leakage

Characteristics of air leakage defect: After the sanitary ceramics products are fired in the kiln, during the grading process, the smooth ceramics (i.e. the fired sanitary ceramics products) have leakage pressure during the leak detector test.

7. Dry tonic

Characteristics of dry patching defects: use dry patching mud to repair the dry billets, and the products appear cracks, bumps and other defects after firing.

8. Mudlock

Characteristics of mud streak defect: during the grouting process, a defect caused by too fast grouting is shown as a curved black or dark brown mud trace on the product surface, or an obvious water ripple.
